Pine Forest

Pine Forest is a preset for photographs that breathe. Dark, saturated forest green that captures the atmosphere of a dense pine wood: soft shadow between the trunks, diffused light filtering through the canopy, a stillness you can almost feel. No bright summer colours, no high contrast for its own sake. Just a quiet, heavy tone that makes your photos feel like you could step right into them.

The preset pulls the shadows down and builds depth in the midtones, creating a layered effect across the frame. Greens shift to a darker, earthier hue with a slight cool-blue cast in the shadow zones. Highlights are brought back without losing detail, which means overcast and misty scenes work just as well as evenly lit ones. The contrast is firm but not harsh. The tone curve gives the dark zones room to breathe without letting everything fall into pure black.

Pine Forest works best with images shot in coniferous forests, but mixed woodland, orchards, bamboo groves and dense undergrowth all respond well. Wet moss, spruce branches and a ground cover of pine needles look particularly strong with this preset applied. It is less suited to dry, sunny open landscapes or scenes with a lot of warm direct sunlight.

Pine Forest works for street photography in green urban spaces as naturally as it does for trail runners in the woods or portraits among the trees. It suits images where you want the viewer to feel something, not just see something.

A practical tip: if you are applying the preset to images that are already quite dark, raise the exposure slightly before you apply it. Pine Forest deepens shadow detail rather than lifting it. By adjusting your base exposure first, you keep control over how dark the shadow areas end up. That way the details stay visible and the layered quality that defines the preset remains intact.
