Grain

Grain is the fine, filmic texture you lay over a photo to make it look more analog. It mimics the structure of photographic film, which came from silver grains. A touch of grain gives digital photos character and sometimes even hides slight noise.

Add grain in the effects panel and control size, amount and roughness. For a subtle film look, keep the amount low and the grain fine; for a gritty analog feel, go coarser. Grain works beautifully alongside lifted blacks and a light vignette for a true vintage vibe. The film presets on this site often bring a fitting grain along, which you can then tweak to taste.
