Parametric curve

The parametric curve lets you control the tone curve with sliders instead of loose points: highlights, lights, darks and shadows. You can't overshoot, because each slider stays within its own tonal region. That makes it safe and predictable.

Use the parametric curve when you want to build contrast quickly and without risk. The four sliders divide your tonal range neatly, so the image stays natural. If you want to target one tone more precisely, switch to the point curve. Many editors use both: parametric for the broad strokes, points for the finishing touch.
