Snow forest

Snow forest puts your photo into a kind of winter quiet. The preset was made for images where the light is low and cold, where branches bend under the weight of fresh snow, and where the sky carries that blue cast you know from overcast winter days just before or after sunset. No heavy editing, no forced mood. The preset works calmly and lets the scene speak for itself.

Technically, Snow forest pulls the highlights back slightly so that snow retains texture and does not blow out. The shadows are lifted just enough to give the image room to breathe without losing contrast. The color temperature shifts toward cool, with a gentle emphasis on blue and cyan in the midtones. Warm tones and skin are not removed entirely, but they step back. The overall result has a matte quality that fits the flat light of a winter sky.

The preset works well on images shot in snowy forests, open winter landscapes, and dusk photography in nature. Portraits taken in winter light also respond well to Snow forest, especially when the background is white or grey and the light falls soft and diffuse. It does not suit black and white conversions. The preset is built around that specific cool color balance and needs color to do what it does.

You reach for Snow forest when you have a photo that already holds some of that cold winter feeling and you want to bring it out without pushing too hard. It does not work on warm or summery images, but on photos that are already halfway there. The preset gives them the tone they are missing.

One practical tip: after applying the preset, adjust the exposure individually for each photo. Snow forest is calibrated to an average exposure, but winter light changes quickly. Sometimes half a stop up or down is all it takes. Also keep an eye on the whites slider when there is a lot of snow in the frame. It is easy to lose detail there without noticing.
