Humour is about the moment life contradicts itself. Someone looks the wrong way. A dog does something unexpected. Two people react at exactly the same time, but in completely different ways. The street is full of these moments, and they pass quickly. This preset is built for photographs where something is happening, where the viewer smiles before they quite understand why.

Technically, Humour brings warm midtones with enough contrast to keep the situation sharp and readable. Highlights are pulled back slightly so they do not distract. Shadows stay open, with detail, so the context of a scene remains visible. Colours are saturated but controlled. Skin tones stay natural, while street surfaces and clothing pick up a little more life. The result feels lively, as if the photo was always going to be taken a fraction too early or too late, but landed at exactly the right moment.

The preset works best in street photography where people are central. Groups reacting in unexpected ways to something outside the frame. Children doing what adults would not. A passer-by who walks into the shot at exactly the wrong moment and saves the photograph in doing so. It also works well in looser portrait situations, a spontaneous laugh, a glance that was never meant for the camera, anywhere the subject is caught rather than posed.

You reach for this preset when the photograph already tells a story and you want to support that story without pushing it too hard. Not every street photo needs Humour. But when the tension is already there, this preset gives it a tone that fits. The colours add life to the image without demanding attention.

A practical note: adjust your exposure before applying the preset. Humour is calibrated for well-exposed photographs. If your base exposure is too dark, the shadows turn muddy and you lose exactly the context that makes the moment work. Bring the image to a neutral exposure first, then apply the preset, and only after that decide whether you want to nudge the warmth or contrast further.
