Cropping
Cropping is trimming your photo: you remove edges to strengthen the composition or choose a different aspect ratio. When editing, it's one of the most powerful and simplest moves: a better crop instantly lifts many photos. You're throwing away pixels, so crop with care.
Use the guides (rule of thirds or golden ratio) in the crop tool to place your subject more strongly. Trim distractions at the edges and give your subject breathing room. Mind your aspect ratio: deliberately choose 4:5 for Instagram, 16:9 for a banner, or leave it original. Crop into a small part and you lose resolution, so consider the final print or display size.
