Color sampler
The eyedropper reads the exact color of a pixel, while the Color Sampler pins that value on your image so you can keep tracking it while editing. Together they help you measure and check color. Indispensable for accurate color correction and keeping whites neutral.
With the eyedropper you click a color to adopt it as the foreground color, handy when retouching or painting. With the color sampler you drop fixed measurement points, for example on a grey card, and read in the Info panel whether the RGB values are nicely neutral. That instantly shows whether a color correction really removes the color cast. Tip: choose a 3 by 3 pixel average in the options bar, so you do not measure a random noise pixel.
