Layers
Layers are the building blocks of Photoshop: separate sheets you stack on top of each other, so text, retouching and color adjustments each get their own level. You change something on one layer without affecting the rest. Together they form the image you see.
Working with layers keeps your edit flexible: you can hide, move or delete an element without starting over. Name your layers clearly, because in big files you lose track fast. Drag a layer up or down in the layers panel to change the stacking order. Tip: group related layers in a folder to stay organized.

The presets on this site set these adjustments up for you as a starting point, which you then fine-tune to taste.
