Levels (Capture One)

The Levels tool in Capture One sets the black point, white point and midtones of your photo in the right place. You drag the sliders under the histogram to the edges of your image data to correct contrast and brightness. It's a fast way to give a flat RAW file some punch.

Drag the black point right to where the darkest tones begin and the white point left to where the lightest tones sit, and you'll use the full tonal range. The middle slider sets whether the photo gets lighter or darker overall. You can also use Levels per RGB channel to remove a colour cast. Tip: use Levels for the basic correction and the Curve for the fine contrast shape, that works more pleasantly than doing everything in one tool.
