Character and mood

Yellow Wall is built around a single idea: a soft, warm yellow wall that sets the mood of a photograph. Not loud, not overpowering. The colour sits over the image like a layer of light, the way sun falls on a faded wall in a southern city. The result feels both timeless and calm.

The preset lifts warmth in the midtones and opens up the shadows so they never go fully black but lean toward olive or sandy yellow instead. Highlights take on a creamy tone rather than sharp white. Contrast is intentionally restrained: the image breathes, with air in the lights and depth in the darks without either getting in the way of the other. The colour shift lives mostly in the yellow and orange ranges, which are brightened and nudged toward beige. Cool tones like blue and cyan are pulled back, but not erased.

This preset works well with street photography in urban environments featuring stucco or plastered walls, Mediterranean architecture, morning light on building facades, interiors with wooden floors or linen curtains, and portraits where the background holds a warm, neutral tone. Lifestyle photography in kitchens or living rooms with natural materials is also a good fit. The preset is less suited to cool, overcast scenes or images where blue plays a leading role.

You reach for Yellow Wall when you want a series that holds together through colour rather than through composition. When a location is already warm, the preset reinforces that warmth quietly. When a photo feels flat or clinical, it brings back a layered, considered tone. It is a preset that does not need explaining. It just fits.

A practical tip: adjust your exposure before applying the preset. Yellow Wall performs best on images that are slightly underexposed, around one third to half a stop below your standard exposure. That way the creamy highlights have room to develop and the shadows do not wash out too quickly in the light.
