Character and mood

Mint frame gives your photos a cool, clean look with the feel of old film stock. The mint green colour scheme is subtle enough not to shout, but distinct enough to make your images recognisable at a glance. There is something quiet about this preset, something that calls to mind early mornings, soft shadows and cities just waking up.

Technically, Mint frame shifts the shadows toward green and teal while the highlights become slightly cooler and more faded. Contrast is lower than in a standard colour edit, giving the photo a flatter, more cinematic tonal range. The saturation of warm colours like orange and red is pulled back, so skin tones appear calmer and cooler hues have more room to breathe. Blacks are lifted rather than deepened, which creates that characteristic raised shadow look of exposed analogue film.

This preset works best in urban environments: streets, markets, passageways, buildings with strong texture and detail. Green foliage responds well because the mint colour palette amplifies those tones without pushing them too far. It also works for portraits in soft outdoor light, provided the skin tone is not too warm to begin with. Think overcast daylight, shade in the city, or golden hour just past its peak when the light softens and loses its warmth.

You reach for Mint frame when your images need to form a coherent series with a clear atmosphere. This is not a neutral edit but a deliberate visual choice. Reportages, street photography projects, work with a melancholic or nostalgic undertone, that is where this preset earns its place. If you want your photos to feel like a found roll of film from the eighties, Mint frame gives you that starting point.

A practical tip: apply the preset at full strength first, then lower the overall saturation by one or two points if the green tones feel too dominant. Small adjustments to the HSL sliders for green and aqua give you precise control without losing the character of the preset.
