Character and mood
Bright & Fresh is a preset for work that feels open. Not the polished brightness of a commercial shoot, but the quality of light coming through a window or bouncing off a pale wall. Airy, clean, warm without being saturated. If you look at a photo and feel it needs more room to breathe, this preset adds that without taking anything essential away.
Technically, the preset lifts the shadows without turning them grey. The whites are pushed up, but stop just before clipping, before texture disappears in the bright areas. That balance is what makes high-key work difficult to get right: push too far and you lose detail in the highlights, hold back too much and the image stays heavy. Bright & Fresh finds the middle. Skin tones stay warm, including deeper complexions that tend to go flat or cool with most high-key presets. The colour treatment nudges things toward a clean, neutral warmth, not toward a specific season or decade.
The preset works well for portraits in soft window light, outdoor shots on overcast days with diffused light, and street images where mood matters more than contrast. Light and white backgrounds respond particularly well. But a darker or more contrasty image can also benefit here if you want to deliberately shift the mood toward something lighter and more open.
You reach for Bright & Fresh when you want a set of portraits to share a clean, consistent feel, or when a single image needs opening up without losing the warmth in the skin. It works as a starting point for editorial work that needs to read as clean but not cold. The preset is not designed to fix a difficult image. It is designed to move a good image in the right direction.
One practical tip: after applying the preset, adjust the exposure slider individually for each photo. Bright & Fresh is calibrated for an average exposure, and a frame that is already half a stop bright can tip just over the edge. A small correction, sometimes as little as minus 0.3, is enough to bring the whites back in line. That single adjustment will get you most of the way there without rebuilding the edit from scratch.
Installation
Lightroom Classic & CC (desktop)
Unzip the downloaded file on your computer. Open Lightroom Classic and go to the Develop module. Right-click the Presets panel, choose 'Import Presets', and select the .xmp file. The preset appears in your list immediately and can be applied to any photo straight away.
Lightroom Mobile
Lightroom Mobile syncs presets via the cloud. Import the .xmp file into Lightroom CC on your desktop first. Once cloud sync completes, the preset is automatically available on your phone or tablet. An Adobe CC subscription is required for this sync feature.
Capture One
Unzip the file. Open Capture One and navigate to the Styles panel. Click the arrow next to 'Styles' and choose 'Import Style'. Select the .costyle file. The style is available in your library immediately. Works with Capture One version 21 and later.
DaVinci Resolve / Premiere Pro (3D LUT)
Copy the .cube file to your application's LUT folder. In DaVinci Resolve via Project Settings → Color Management → LUT folders. In Premiere Pro via the Lumetri Color panel → Creative tab → Look → Browse. The LUT works on both LOG and standard exposed video footage.
