Portrait

Warmth in the highlights, a calm homely tone. Skin keeps its red-brown glow while the shadows stay soft yet drop away cleanly.

Character and mood

Warm Linen feels like a Sunday morning with thin curtains and too much light coming through. Not washed out, not overdone. Just warm, slightly faded at the edges, with that colour you see in old photo books that have aged past their prime. It is a preset that does not shout, but makes itself known from the first glance.

Technically, Warm Linen pulls the highlights into a soft, yellowish warmth without letting them blow out. The midtones pick up a red-brown cast that reads particularly well on skin, while the shadows do not get pushed up artificially but drop away quietly instead. There is enough contrast to give the image structure, yet the overall feel stays airy. Colours do not saturate further, they shift toward earth tones. Greens become olive, blues do not cool further but hold their middle ground. The result is coherent without you having to touch a single slider.

This preset works best in portrait photography with natural light, ideally indoors or in open shade outside. People near a window, in a kitchen, in a café. Street photography also takes to it well when the light is soft, on overcast days or in the shade of a building. Scenes with wood, stone, fabric and other matte surfaces translate cleanly here. Harsh midday sun or strong blue skies are less suitable and tend to produce a flat result.

You reach for Warm Linen when you want a photograph that feels like a memory. When technical accuracy matters less than the emotion a frame carries. It fits a style that leans documentary but stays aware of light. If you need consistency across a series without every image looking identical, this is a reliable starting point.

One practical tip: adjust exposure before you apply the preset. Warm Linen performs best on images that are underexposed by half a stop to a full stop. The highlights then have enough room to open up without clipping, and the shadows get exactly the soft depth the preset needs to do its work properly.
