Character and mood
Rose Petal gives your photos a soft, almost dreamy warmth. The pink tones are subtle, never overpowering. It is a preset that lets the subject breathe while gently shaping the mood. You notice it immediately, but you do not find yourself wondering why. That is exactly the point.
Technically, Rose Petal lifts the shadows slightly, smoothing out harsh transitions and giving the image an even, gentle feel. Highlights are pulled back without losing detail. The color temperature shifts toward warm, with a pink cast sitting in the midtones. Contrast is intentionally kept low, so the photo feels velvety rather than crisp. Saturation in red and pink tones is carefully increased, while greens are softened to reinforce the floral atmosphere.
This preset works best with flower photography: roses, peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus. But wedding photography, floral flatlays, pastel-toned lifestyle shots, and product photography with a soft background also benefit from it. Clean, even light conditions, such as diffused daylight or soft studio lighting, give the most pleasing results. Strong artificial light or deep, hard shadows do not play as well with the preset.
You reach for Rose Petal when you want to convey a romantic or elegant mood. Not only with flowers, but also with portraits set against floral or pastel backgrounds. The preset fits naturally into a collection that communicates calm, like a lookbook or a webshop featuring delicate products. If you are building a consistent, recognizable visual style, this preset brings cohesion to a set of images quickly and without fuss.
A practical tip: photograph your flowers on an overcast day or next to a window with indirect light. That soft, diffused quality of light aligns closely with what Rose Petal does. After applying the preset, try nudging the exposure up by half a stop if you want a slightly airier result. It is also worth playing with the Tint slider if you want to push the pink cast a little further or pull it back. Small adjustments, noticeable difference.
Installation
Lightroom Classic & CC (desktop)
Unzip the downloaded file on your computer. Open Lightroom Classic and go to the Develop module. Right-click the Presets panel, choose 'Import Presets', and select the .xmp file. The preset appears in your list immediately and can be applied to any photo straight away.
Lightroom Mobile
Lightroom Mobile syncs presets via the cloud. Import the .xmp file into Lightroom CC on your desktop first. Once cloud sync completes, the preset is automatically available on your phone or tablet. An Adobe CC subscription is required for this sync feature.
Capture One
Unzip the file. Open Capture One and navigate to the Styles panel. Click the arrow next to 'Styles' and choose 'Import Style'. Select the .costyle file. The style is available in your library immediately. Works with Capture One version 21 and later.
DaVinci Resolve / Premiere Pro (3D LUT)
Copy the .cube file to your application's LUT folder. In DaVinci Resolve via Project Settings → Color Management → LUT folders. In Premiere Pro via the Lumetri Color panel → Creative tab → Look → Browse. The LUT works on both LOG and standard exposed video footage.
