Shibuya

Shibuya does not do quiet. This preset brings colour and energy to your photos, much like the crossing itself: busy, vivid, and moving fast. The look is urban and cinematic at the same time. Not an empty street at dawn, but a crowded intersection on a Friday night with lights bleeding into wet pavement.

The preset lifts the shadows just enough to keep details visible in darker corners, while keeping the highlights from blowing out. Contrast is present and deliberate, but not harsh. Colours gain saturation without tipping into oversaturated territory: reds run warmer, blues go deeper, and the midtones pick up a slight golden cast that works well with artificial light. The tone curve has that film-like quality you notice the moment you drag the slider across your image.

Shibuya works best on urban scenes with artificial light, neon signs, busy streets and people in motion. City portraits surrounded by reflections and mixed lighting benefit from the warm tonal base. Street scenes during the day with strong colour accents, markets, festivals or crowded squares, also respond well. Flat, static scenes with no visual tension are not where this preset shines.

You reach for Shibuya when you want a photo to feel immediate. When the atmosphere of a place is the story you are telling. Not every image calls for this treatment, but when you are deliberately going for an urban, high-energy look, this preset gives you a solid starting point. It also holds up well across a series of city shots when you want visual consistency without editing each photo from scratch.

One practical tip: after applying the preset, adjust the exposure slider individually for each photo. Shibuya is calibrated around an average city-lit scene, but street photography involves wide exposure variation from frame to frame. A small exposure correction per image keeps your series looking coherent without losing the character the preset brings.
