Noise reduction (video)
Noise reduction removes grainy noise from your video, especially handy with low-light footage or a high ISO. It makes your image cleaner and gives your grade more room without noise becoming obvious. The art is removing enough noise without losing detail.
In DaVinci Resolve you work with temporal noise reduction (across multiple frames) and spatial noise reduction (within one frame), which you often combine. Apply noise reduction early in your node chain, especially before using a qualifier, because noise disrupts your selection. Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro have their own or plug-in options. Tip: tread carefully, because too much noise reduction makes skin and detail plastic and lifeless.
