Focus mask

The Focus mask in Capture One lays a coloured overlay over the sharp parts of your photo, so you can see at a glance what's truly in focus. It's a checking aid, not an edit: it changes nothing in your image. Especially when working tethered in the studio it's indispensable for verifying focus.

Turn the Focus mask on and the parts within the plane of focus light up, usually in green. That instantly shows whether you nailed focus on the eyes or just on the lashes beside them. It works both when reviewing single shots and during a tethered session. Tip: use the Focus mask together with zooming to a hundred percent, and you'll be genuinely sure of your focus before moving on.
