Layers (Capture One)

Layers in Capture One let you apply adjustments locally to part of your photo, independent of the rest. Each layer carries a mask that defines where the adjustment shows, plus its own opacity. This lets you build an edit in steps you can always revisit.

Want to darken just the sky or lift a face? Create a separate layer with a mask for that. You can use most sliders per layer, from exposure to the Color Editor, and dial in the strength with opacity. Because layers are non-destructive, your original stays untouched. Tip: name your layers clearly so you can quickly find what's where in a complex edit.
