Select subject (Photoshop)

Select Subject lets Photoshop use AI to automatically recognize and select the main subject in your photo. One click and the program finds the person, animal or object itself. It is often the fastest start for a cutout or mask.

You find Select Subject in the options bar with the selection tools or via the Select menu. The AI does the heavy lifting, then you refine the edges in Select and Mask, especially on hair or fur. If the result is not quite right, add to it manually with quick selection. Tip: turn the selection straight into a layer mask, so your cutout stays editable.
