Quick selection
With quick selection you paint over an area and Photoshop automatically expands the selection to similar tones and edges. It recognizes transitions on its own, so you do not have to drag exactly along the edge. It is one of the fastest ways to select a subject.
Grab quick selection and drag over the area you want to select, Photoshop snaps automatically to the logical boundaries. Hold Alt to subtract any bits it grabbed by mistake. If it works well, move on to Select and Mask to refine the edges. Tip: adjust the brush size with the bracket keys, small for details, large for big areas.
