Lasso
The lasso is the tool with which you draw a selection by hand around a subject. There are three versions: the freehand lasso, the polygonal lasso for straight lines and the magnetic lasso that follows edges. It is fast and intuitive for loose, organic shapes.
Grab the regular lasso to freely circle an area, ideal for a rough selection you refine afterward. The polygonal lasso clicks straight segments and is handy on buildings or sharp shapes. The magnetic lasso snaps itself to high-contrast edges. Tip: for a rough selection you still want to soften, feather the edges after drawing.
