Marquee
The marquee tool makes rectangular or elliptical selections with a simple drag. It is the simplest selection tool in Photoshop. Ideal for clean, geometric areas or a quick cutout.
Grab the marquee and drag a rectangle or ellipse over the area you want to select. Hold Shift for a perfect square or circle. Handy to quickly mark off part of your image, for example to prepare a crop or limit an effect to one corner. Tip: set a fixed ratio in the options bar when you need a specific size.
