Profile browser
The profile browser is the window in Lightroom where you choose your photo's profile, the base translation of your RAW into an image. It holds Adobe profiles like Color and Monochrome, camera-matching profiles and any custom or imported profiles. You open it via the profile field at the top of the basic panel.
The profile sets the starting point of your edit, before you touch a single slider. Adobe Color is a neutral, versatile choice; camera-matching profiles resemble the JPEG looks from your camera. You can hover over thumbnails to compare looks before you pick. Tip: choose a profile in the browser first and build your preset or manual edit on top, that gives the most predictable result.

The presets on this site set these adjustments up for you as a starting point, which you then fine-tune to taste.
