Shot matching
Shot matching is aligning separate shots so they match in brightness, color and contrast. Without matching, your edit jumps restlessly from one image to the next. It's an essential step before you lay your creative look over it.
If you work with multiple cameras or changing light, you correct each shot separately first and then align them against your scopes. In DaVinci Resolve you can also have shots matched automatically, but tuning by hand on the waveform and parade usually gives the cleanest result. Pick one shot as a reference and bring the rest toward it. Tip: place two shots side by side in your viewer, so you spot differences in skin tone and exposure instantly.
