Color correction vs color grading
Color correction makes your image technically correct first: white balance fixed, exposure balanced, every shot matched. Color grading comes after and gives your film a look, a color mood that fits the story. In short: correction repairs, grading tells.
Always work in this order, because grading on an unbalanced image falls apart fast. In DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro you do primary correction per shot first, then lay your creative grade on top. Tip: keep your correction and grade on separate nodes or layers, so you can tweak the look without breaking your base. That keeps every step independent and flexible.
