Zebra (video)
Zebra lays diagonal stripes over the parts of your image that are getting too bright, so you spot blown-out highlights instantly. It's an exposure aid found on cameras and in monitoring. So you keep your whites under control while filming.
You set yourself from which brightness the zebra appears, for example around the point where white loses detail. If you see zebra over an important area, like a face, you know your exposure needs to come down. It's mainly a tool at the recording stage, in the edit you use your waveform and scopes instead. Tip: set your zebra just below the blow-out point, so you have a safe margin before detail really disappears.
