Florist

Florist is a preset for photographs that already seem made of light. Soft, airy, with that delicate quality you find in a bunch of peonies or a windowsill full of flowers. The colours are blush pink, lavender, fresh green. The whites are genuinely white, not beige, not grey. The feeling recalls an early morning with an open window.

Technically, the preset works through the white tones. Highlights are lifted, but in a way that gives air rather than blows out detail. Shadows stay soft and light in tone, so no dark corners weigh the image down. The colour temperature leans slightly cool, which keeps the pinks and lavenders clear and clean. Saturation is selective: greens and pinks get just a little more life, without tipping into artificiality. Contrast is low, but not absent. There is structure in the image, just quiet.

The preset is at its strongest with soft, diffuse light. Think overcast days, shaded spots outdoors, or the indirect light coming through a window. Flowers are the obvious subject, but flat lay photography, lifestyle images, pastel-coloured products and portraits in light surroundings also work well. Skin tones respond well when the background is light. Dark or heavily shadowed scenes are a less natural fit.

You reach for Florist when you want a photograph that breathes. Not pumped up, not dramatised. It suits photographers working for brands in the floral, beauty or interiors space, but equally for a spring afternoon outside, waiting for soft backlight. When the light is right, the preset needs very little adjustment.

A practical tip: check the exposure of your original file before applying the preset. Florist works best when the base image is already well exposed, leaning slightly bright rather than dark. If you are shooting into the light, nudge the exposure up a quarter to half a stop in Lightroom first. That way the preset keeps its lightness without losing detail in the highlights.
