For the heat of the furnace and the cool glass that comes out. A glowing amber in the shadows and an aqua-turquoise in the lights. Luminous and almost magical, with clean whites.

Character and mood

Glassworks is a preset for photographs that burn. Not with the soft warmth of golden hour, but with the raw, almost dangerous glow of fire and molten material. It has two sides: a warm amber that lifts the shadows and an aqua-turquoise that cools the highlights. Together they create something that feels industrial and poetic at the same time, like watching something being made, something not yet finished.

Technically, Glassworks uses a split toning approach. The shadows pull toward orange-amber while the highlights shift to a cool blue-green. The contrast is present but not heavy. Whites stay clean and open, blacks have depth without closing off completely. Warm colors like orange, red and yellow become more saturated, while blues and greens take on an aquatic quality. The result is a photograph with an inner light that is hard to name but easy to feel.

The preset works best with subjects where heat, material or craft are part of the story. A glassblower, a blacksmith, a potter at the wheel. But portrait work in warm artificial light also responds well to Glassworks, especially when the background is dark and the light falls at an angle. Street photography in neon or under warm streetlights can work beautifully too, particularly when reflections appear in wet pavement or shop windows.

You reach for Glassworks when a photograph already holds some tension and you want to deepen it without pushing it over the edge. When the scene has texture, heat or transformation in it. This preset has no interest in nostalgia or retro. It looks straight into the furnace.

A practical tip: if your image is already well exposed, pull the exposure slider down slightly before applying the preset. Glassworks performs best when there is room in the shadows. A small underexposure, around minus 0.3 to minus 0.7 stops, gives the amber in the darker tones space to glow without the whites clipping.
