Spring meadow

Spring Meadow captures the feeling of early April light, the kind you get on a slightly overcast morning when everything looks fresh and the colours are already full. It is a quiet preset. Not dramatic, not oversaturated. Just that specific quality of spring that makes a field feel alive without shouting about it.

Technically, the preset lifts the shadows slightly to preserve detail in the darker areas of your frame. Highlights are pulled back just enough to even out the exposure, giving the image that soft, diffused light quality typical of spring mornings or overcast skies. The green hues shift toward a cooler, fresher tone. Yellow moves a little toward chartreuse. This is the colour your eyes actually see in a spring meadow, but that cameras often render too warm or too yellow straight out of the box. Contrast is kept moderate. The tone curve is gentle. No crushed blacks, no blown whites.

The preset works best with outdoor nature photography: meadows, forest edges, wildflower fields, gardens coming into bloom. It also holds up well with outdoor portraits in green surroundings. Someone sitting in the grass, leaning against a hedge, or standing in a field full of dandelions. Skin tones stay neutral enough to avoid colour casts, while the background keeps its spring character.

Choose Spring Meadow when a photo already has the right atmosphere but the colours are not quite matching what you saw. When the greens feel too warm or too heavy straight from the camera. When the image feels flat or dense but the actual moment was light and open. This preset gives that image room to breathe again.

One practical tip: adjust your exposure in Lightroom before applying the preset. Spring Meadow assumes a reasonably well-exposed starting point. On a correctly exposed image it produces a usable result straight away. After applying, check the Hue slider under Green in the HSL panel. A few degrees either way can fine-tune the colour to match the exact light conditions of your specific shot.
