Morning Haze

Morning Haze captures the moment just before full daylight arrives. The sky is soft pink and lilac, the world is quiet, and everything feels slightly out of ordinary time. This preset translates that feeling into your photos: dreamy without being saccharine, magical without looking artificial.

Technically, Morning Haze works with cool, muted shadows and warm midtones that blend into each other gradually. Contrast is intentionally kept low, preserving detail in bright areas. Highlights take on a subtle pink glow, while shadows lean toward lilac and blue-grey. The result is a tonal range that feels wide without going flat. Saturation is restrained: colours become softer and more refined, not louder.

The preset performs best on photos that already carry some quality of early morning light or twilight. Think portraits in backlight just after sunrise, cityscapes wrapped in mist or haze, architecture against a sky that hasn't fully brightened, or flowers and natural scenes in the first light of day. Images with diffuse light, lighter tones, and a certain stillness in the composition benefit most from what Morning Haze brings.

You reach for this preset when you want a photo that breathes, that gives the viewer some space. Not when you are after dramatic contrast or saturated colour. Morning Haze fits the feeling of an early morning when you are briefly the only person somewhere. If the image already has a gentle atmosphere, the preset deepens it without overpowering it.

A practical tip: if your photo is slightly underexposed, raise the exposure by 0.3 to 0.5 stops before applying the preset. Morning Haze works best with light that has room to open up, not with images that are already heavy in the shadows. After that, use the HSL panel for the pink range to fine-tune skin tones in portraits. Small adjustments, noticeable difference.
