White curtain

White Curtain does what the name suggests: it pulls a veil of translucent light across your photo, soft and weightless, as if a window somewhere just out of frame has been left open. The mood is quiet. Not empty, just still. It gives the subject room to breathe without letting the image fade into overexposed nothing.

Technically, White Curtain works primarily through the highlights and midtones. Highlights are lifted gently without clipping, creating that sense of light passing through something thin. Shadows stay soft but present, so the contrast is low without being flat. Colors shift toward cool, muted tones. Skin retains warmth but never goes orange or heavy. The result feels like a photo taken in soft backlight, even when the original was not shot that way.

This preset works best on portraits in natural light, especially when a window or diffused light source is nearby. Think of someone standing by a curtain, sitting in a bright room, or photographed outside on an overcast day. Street photos with a lot of open sky or pale facades in the frame also respond well. Scenes that are already slightly bright tend to look their best. Dark, high-contrast images are a less natural fit.

You reach for White Curtain when you want a quiet, cinematic feel without the photo looking processed. It suits a personal project, a photo essay that needs room to breathe, or portraits where you want it to feel like the camera was barely there. The preset does not announce itself.

A practical tip: after applying the preset, nudge the Texture slider up a little, around plus twenty. White Curtain softens texture slightly, which works beautifully in most situations, but for portraits with character, weathered skin, strong lines, that small adjustment gives the image something to hold onto.
