Power Windows

Power Windows are shapes, like a circle or rectangle, that mark off an area of your image so you grade only there. You can light up a face, darken a sky or build a vignette. It's the shape-based counterpart to the qualifier.

In DaVinci Resolve you draw a Power Window on a node and adjust color or brightness inside that shape, with a soft edge for a natural transition. If your subject moves, you attach tracking to the window so the shape follows along. Feel free to combine it with a qualifier for extra precision. Tip: keep the edge nice and soft (feather), because a hard boundary instantly gives away that something's been edited.
