Character and mood
Tailor's is a preset that takes its time. The name suggests craft, care, and a steady hand. There is no flashy color grading here, no aggressive contrast, just a result that feels considered. Like something made to measure rather than picked off the rack.
Technically, Tailor's works through a precise balance between cool shadows and warm highlights. The shadows pull toward navy: deep, clean, with a quiet blue that adds dimension without feeling cold in a harsh way. The highlights move toward a brass-warm ivory, giving lighter areas a subtle golden quality that stops well short of yellow. Together, these two ends of the tonal range create a color grade that feels elevated and intentional. Contrast is controlled, which means detail survives in the darker parts of the frame. The image breathes without losing structure.
This preset works particularly well with portraits shot in soft, directional light. A window in the afternoon, a diffused studio setup, a calm corner in a restaurant. The ivory in the highlights is flattering on skin, especially with lighter complexions or when the subject is slightly front-lit. For street photography, Tailor's brings out texture: stone walls, wool coats, leather bags, worn concrete. Fashion editorials and clothing product photography are obvious applications, but the preset handles a wider range of subjects than its name might suggest.
You reach for Tailor's when you want a photograph that commands attention quietly. When the composition is already there and you want the color to support it rather than compete with it. This preset rewards images with clear subjects and some breathing room. It makes order more visible. It does not fix disorder.
One practical tip: after applying Tailor's, check your exposure before anything else. The preset is calibrated for an average exposure, but lifting by a quarter stop can bring the ivory highlights to their full potential. If skin tones feel slightly cool, nudge the tint slider just a touch toward magenta. Small adjustments are all it takes.
Installation
Lightroom Classic & CC (desktop)
Unzip the downloaded file on your computer. Open Lightroom Classic and go to the Develop module. Right-click the Presets panel, choose 'Import Presets', and select the .xmp file. The preset appears in your list immediately and can be applied to any photo straight away.
Lightroom Mobile
Lightroom Mobile syncs presets via the cloud. Import the .xmp file into Lightroom CC on your desktop first. Once cloud sync completes, the preset is automatically available on your phone or tablet. An Adobe CC subscription is required for this sync feature.
Capture One
Unzip the file. Open Capture One and navigate to the Styles panel. Click the arrow next to 'Styles' and choose 'Import Style'. Select the .costyle file. The style is available in your library immediately. Works with Capture One version 21 and later.
DaVinci Resolve / Premiere Pro (3D LUT)
Copy the .cube file to your application's LUT folder. In DaVinci Resolve via Project Settings → Color Management → LUT folders. In Premiere Pro via the Lumetri Color panel → Creative tab → Look → Browse. The LUT works on both LOG and standard exposed video footage.
