Industrial and raw. Concrete grey, street art and high contrast. Berlin has no time for soft transitions. A preset for those who have something to say.

Character and mood
Berlin does not care about pretty light or gentle colour palettes. It has cracks in the walls, paint over paint over history, and an energy you feel before you understand it. This preset captures that. Not polished city photography, but something that matches the reality of concrete, grey and graffiti.
Technically, the preset pulls shadows deep without losing detail. Contrast is high, but not blindly cranked up. Colours shift toward cool, muted tones. Blues and greens lose saturation, while the midtones take on a steel-grey character. Highlights are deliberately held back, so the image feels heavy and intentional rather than overexposed. The result has a cinematic quality without forcing film grain on top of it.
The preset works best in street photography with hard architecture, rough surfaces and available light. Think abandoned industrial sites, underpasses, shopping streets on overcast days or portraits taken in concrete environments. Documentary work in cities like Hamburg, Warsaw, Manchester or Detroit fits this look well. The preset asks something of your photos. Scenes with tension, with a question, with a subject that earns attention. Empty street scenes without content will not improve with this treatment.
You reach for this preset when you want your photo to say something, not just show something. When you feel the image has weight but has not found its voice yet. The style is distinct enough to land immediately, but not so extreme that it drowns the subject. It suits photographers who think carefully about how the world looks, not just about how light behaves.
Practical tip: adjust your exposure before applying the preset. Because the shadows are pushed down significantly, start with a file that is half a stop to a full stop brighter than your target. That way you keep detail in the dark areas and give the preset room to do its work without swallowing texture.
