Character and mood

Beach Afternoon is the preset for the end of a day by the sea. The sun sits low, the light turns warm and everything takes on that golden glow you want to hold on to a little longer. The look is soft and saturated, with warmth in the highlights and a mood that brings walking home to mind.

Here is what the preset does: a warm, golden tone comes over the image, as if the sun hangs just above the horizon. The highlights turn soft and warm, the colours saturated without going sharp. What matters is that the skin stays right, because warm looks can quickly push a face orange. This preset keeps skin natural while the rest of the image warms up.

The look suits portraits and beach scenes in the golden hour. Someone with the sun behind them, silhouettes against the water, children playing in the last of the light. Wider landscapes at the end of the day also pick up that soft, warm glow.

You choose Beach Afternoon when you want warm, sunny images with a soft mood. The preset works best when the light is already on your side, strengthening what is there rather than inventing warmth that was not. In the heat of midday a cooler look suits better.

A practical tip: place your subject with the sun to the side or slightly behind, so you get that glow around the hair and edges. That is what this look loves. In backlight, watch your exposure, because you do not want the face falling away into shadow. A fraction of extra light on the subject keeps the warmth and the detail both standing.
