Generative Expand

With Generative Expand you enlarge the canvas and let Photoshop fill the new empty space using AI. The program invents matching image content that blends seamlessly into your photo. Handy when you cropped a touch too tight or need a different aspect ratio.

Grab the crop tool, drag the frame beyond your photo and optionally type a prompt for what the new edge should contain. Leave the prompt field empty and Photoshop fills the space based on the existing surroundings. The result lands on a generative layer, so you can always adjust it. Tip: ideal for turning a landscape photo into a portrait one for Instagram without losing important edges.
