Keyframes
Keyframes lock a value at a specific moment, so an effect or grade can change over time. Set two keyframes with different values, and the software calculates the transition between them. That's how you make your grade follow a changing light, for example.
Use keyframes when a shot changes over time, think of a cloud sliding in front of the sun or a camera moving from inside to outside. In DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro you set keyframes on your effect and adjust the value per moment. The software fills in the frames between automatically (interpolation). Tip: don't use too many, two or three good keyframes often give a smoother result than a whole row.
