Character and mood
The Amalfi Coast does not do understated. The sea is an almost unconvincing shade of blue-green, the cliffs burn orange in the afternoon sun, and lemon trees grow in every direction. This preset captures that excess honestly. Not as a filter, but as a close reading of what the light actually looks like when conditions are right and your eyes have had a moment to adjust.
Technically, the preset pulls the cyans and teals in the highlights toward a deeper, warmer turquoise. Orange tones in rock faces, building facades and skin tones gain saturation without tipping into oversaturation. Contrast sits in the midtones rather than the shadows, which keeps the image from feeling dense or heavy. The shadows themselves lean slightly warm, reinforcing that Mediterranean quality without making the edit look artificial. Highlights are gently rolled back so that white walls and sea foam retain their detail.
The preset performs best with scenes that combine water, stone and direct sunlight. Beaches, small harbours, cliff-top terraces, narrow streets in coastal villages. Outdoor portraits also work well, particularly when the background contains greens or blues. Food photography benefits too: lemon, grilled fish, pasta with fresh herbs all respond well to the lifted yellows and oranges. The preset is less suited to overcast conditions or interiors without strong natural light.
You reach for this preset when you want a photo to feel like summer. Not the polished summer of an advertising campaign, but the real thing: salt on your skin, a cold glass of wine, the sound of water against stone. If your images already carry the atmosphere of a warm destination but are not quite delivering on it yet, this is the edit that closes that gap.
One practical note: after applying the preset, try reducing exposure by half a stop to a full stop if the shot was taken in harsh midday sun. The preset is calibrated for light that is already warm, and with overexposed source files the saturation can become too heavy. Shooting in RAW gives you the room to fine-tune everything from there.
Installation
Lightroom Classic & CC (desktop)
Unzip the downloaded file on your computer. Open Lightroom Classic and go to the Develop module. Right-click the Presets panel, choose 'Import Presets', and select the .xmp file. The preset appears in your list immediately and can be applied to any photo straight away.
Lightroom Mobile
Lightroom Mobile syncs presets via the cloud. Import the .xmp file into Lightroom CC on your desktop first. Once cloud sync completes, the preset is automatically available on your phone or tablet. An Adobe CC subscription is required for this sync feature.
Capture One
Unzip the file. Open Capture One and navigate to the Styles panel. Click the arrow next to 'Styles' and choose 'Import Style'. Select the .costyle file. The style is available in your library immediately. Works with Capture One version 21 and later.
DaVinci Resolve / Premiere Pro (3D LUT)
Copy the .cube file to your application's LUT folder. In DaVinci Resolve via Project Settings → Color Management → LUT folders. In Premiere Pro via the Lumetri Color panel → Creative tab → Look → Browse. The LUT works on both LOG and standard exposed video footage.
